Nativity
by Curt Ega
From Malevitch's black square on a black background to Picabia's
bidet, contemporary art always moved towards the exit, the
termination, the unavoidable End...
Curt Ega, on the contrary, has always been interested in the origin,
the birth, the future. A concept developed even through the choice
of the fabric - raw cotton sheets - that refers to the theories
of the Support/Surface group, freeing the art work from the restraints
of the canvas to inject it into reality by the use of the Raw Sheet,
ideal fabric that symbolizes at the same time the idea of The Couple
and everything it stand for as vision of the future, as well as
The Birth by crystallizing the conception by the use of the material.
Fond of abstracted movements by a deeply raw treatment of the pictorial
gesture, the artist explores the vital emergence through a series
of sensitive, rich, and colorful paintings.
Refusing to acknowledge the concept of stylistic caste, Curt Ega
digs in the artistic imagination to give birth of his creations
through the use of the primordial circle and the matrical sphere.
Bouncing off the tribal neo-realism of Dubuffet, he retraces the
original seed with a very impressionistic touch which nevertheless
doesn't forget the modernity of Jackson Pollock-like violence.
Genuine matrical abyss where the viewer floats in an ameiotic pool,
the artist's universe develops itself like an expanding bubble.
At the crossroad of a Tinguely turned humanist and of a more organic
Klein, Curt Ega try to express the vital hatching, the vaginal expulsion
of a mothering art work.
Re-interpreting Warhol's sexual ambiguity, Curt Ega become the art's
mother : : Nativity. |
